The Sound of Laughter

Some of my favorite moments don’t happen in the spotlight.
They happen quietly… from my office.
On group nights, while I’m working on emails, planning events, or tying up the details that keep everything running, there’s something I hear that stops me every time…
Laughter.
It drifts down the hallway from the small group rooms. Unfiltered, genuine, and full of life. Sometimes it’s loud and contagious, other times it’s soft and steady, but it’s always there. And every time I hear it, I pause.
Because I know what it represents.
That laughter isn’t just girls having fun.
It’s girls feeling safe.
It’s girls letting their guard down.
It’s girls beginning to trust.
In those rooms, something sacred is happening. Conversations are unfolding. Stories are being shared. Walls are slowly coming down. Mentors are showing up, week after week, offering consistency, care, and a listening ear.
And in the middle of it all… laughter.
It may seem small, but it’s not.
Laughter is often the first sign that a heart is opening.
It’s the sound of belonging.
It’s a glimpse of healing.
Every giggle, every burst of joy, every shared moment is building something deeper- memories, connection, and the kind of positive experiences that stay with a girl long after she leaves the room.
From my office, I don’t always see every conversation or every breakthrough.
But I hear enough to know…
Something beautiful is happening.
And it is such a blessing.
